Cooperation

From the very start of your studies, we place great value on practical relevance. Our students are connected to the world of sustainable tourism by way of a close network of universities, tourism businesses and organisations focussing on environment protection and nature conservation. In addition to their teaching and research work at the university, all professors and lecturers of the Master's degree course work as consultants, experts and trainers and therefore are constantly expanding their network. And even after graduation, our students stay connected with the university through our Alumni network.

Amadeus Germany

“What does sustainability means for a leading technology provider in the travel industry, such as Amadeus IT Group SA?” Since 2013, students on the Sustainable Tourism Management degree programme at the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development have been examining this question.

Amadeus uses the expertise of the university in order to approach its own questions around sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Among other things, Amadeus employees and students work together to investigate the change in image and reputation through sustainability measures in companies and to develop approaches for the integration of sustainability, for example, the “Environmental Management System (EMS)”, which makes the responsible handling of water, power, paper, waste and CO2 understandable and comparable at Amadeus' 11 biggest sites around the world. Due to the relocation of Amadeus Germany to the modern office building, their Bad Homburg office will take on a leading role in this area.

Every year, students together with a team from Amadeus address in depth a current topic in the context of sustainability and digitalisation and use the design thinking method to do so. “Through the cooperation with the university, we have a regular exchange with the target groups of tomorrow and can include the findings in our company development,” said Sascha Nau, Marketing Manager for Amadeus DACH & Traveltainment.

Amadeus is also a sponsor of the so-called Deutschlandstipendium, which has been awarded at the university since winter semester 2011/2012. With the scholarship, the students receive support of 300 euros per month in order to be able to concentrate on their studies without distraction.
