Focal research topics at the Faculty of Forest and Environment are:
Ecosystem Research and nature protection: Centre for Econics and Ecosystem Management (nature conservation, ecosystem management, ecosystem-based sustainable development
Forest protection and environmental monitoring
Mainly in these areas, dozens of externally funded research projects were carried out. The large number and variety of subjects of completed projects demonstrate the importance of applied science and research. Alongside projects dealing with renewable (forest) resources, the number of projects has increased significantly, which deal with the effects of climate change on natural resource management and derived adaptive strategies.
Besides long-lasting cooperation in research with domestic, European and North-American research institutions, contacts with East-European and South-American research institutions as well as industrial companies are of growing importance.
