Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF), which was established in 1969, is one of the members of Thai Nguyen University. It is considered one of the four leading National Agricultural Universities in Vietnam. The mission is to provide higher education, conduct research and technology transfer in the fields of agriculture, forestry, rural development, environmental and natural resource management to contribute to the socio-economic development in the midland and northern mountainous provinces of Vietnam. The target is to produce a workforce of qualified knowledge, ethics and practicing capability in the fields of agriculture, forestry, rural development, environmental and natural resource management to meet the demands of the national and international labor market. The university is determined to be a leading center for training, research and technology transfer in the fields of agriculture, forestry, rural development, environmental and natural resource management in Vietnam as well as a prestigious center in Southeast Asia. Annually, TUAF offers admissions to more than 3000 students to 23 undergraduate programs and irregular (learning-by-doing) courses and about 500 students enrolled in 9 master’s and 8 doctoral programs. For the time being, the university has an enrollment of more than 6000 undergraduate and 1036 graduate students.
In an effort to improve the quality of training and research, TUAF is interested in the development of long-term relationships with foreign partners. The university has been recognized as one of the leading TNU (Thai Nguyen University) members in the area of international cooperation. Currently, TUAF has been expanding cooperation with more than 100 prestigious educational and research institutions/ universities as well as organizations around the world such as the University of California, Davis (America), Gyeongsang National University (Korea), Feng-chia University (Taiwan), University of Greifswald, Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences JENA (Germany), etc. This cooperation has been focused on new modern progressive technology for the development of training, researching and transferring technology. Based on the framework agreements signed between TUAF and foreign partners, faculties/offices specify their cooperative research and training programs. Currently, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry is offering many internship and exchange programs in Israel, the USA, Japan, Canada, Taiwan… for students and faculty members.
